The Running Effect Podcast and Final Surge are proud to announce Project 2:59, a collaborative endeavor that combines Dominic Schlueter’s determination to achieve a sub-3-hour marathon with the coaching expertise of Alex Ostberg, a seven-time All-American in track and field. The endeavor will be powered by Final Surge’s mobile app and coaching platform.
Project 2:59 will be comprehensively documented as Dominic, host of the popular The Running Effect Podcast, provides an inspiring and educational journey for runners of all levels through a 10-episode podcast series where he and Coach Alex have in-depth discussions around the training, preparation, and the experience of running your first marathon. Dominic’s daily workouts will be available on his Final Surge Athlete page as well as videos, interviews, and snapshots during his training posted on social channels. This project embodies The Running Effect’s commitment to pushing the sport forward and empowering athletes with the tools they need to succeed.
Central to Project 2:59’s success is the involvement of Alex Ostberg, with six All-American honors earned during his undergraduate years at Stanford and one during his graduate years at UNC. Alex holds PRs of 3:58 in the Mile, 7:49 in the 3k, and 13:18 in the 5k. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in human biology, a minor in psychology, and a master’s in public health. Alex brings a wealth of experience and knowledge that will be leveraged to design and manage a ten-week training plan within a Final Surge Coach Account that propels Dominic toward his sub-3-hour marathon goal.
